who in 2003, was responsible for introducing revolutionary new Danish equipment for oral fluid therapy for cows to the UK, and he has been working in this field ever since. The cattle fluid pump  is now considered a very important tool  in  dispensing oral fluid therapy for cows on the farm. The pump is wisely used by clinicians throughout Ireland  and an exclusive, vet only range of  formulae is now available for use with the pump.  Papers on appropriate  fluid therapy for cows have been presented by Mr David Renney MRCVS   and have been published in  the “UK Vet, the Irish Veterinary Journal and Cattle Practice.”

The thought provoking and interesting  presentation delivered by Mr Renney following the demonstration  featured the use of  the specialised  formulae  in the event of certain situations arising on the farm . the formulae available are designed  to treat cows with ketosis,  inappetance in early lactation, dehydration and acute rumen acidosis .  Mr Renney also looked at achieving a reduction in the risk of milk fever and ketosis in freshly calved cows using the cattle pump and selected formulae
