Active Substance: CHLORHEXINATE GLUCONATE 4%
VETSCRUB is an antimicrobial preparation for pre-operative surgical disinfection, antiseptic handwashing and pre-operative and post-operative skin antisepsis for animals undergoing surgery.
VETSCRUB is contraindicated for patients who have previously shown a hypersensitivity reaction to chlorhexidine. However, such reactions are extremely rare.
VETSCRUB is bactericidal on contact. It has antiseptic activity and a persistent antimicrobial effect with rapid bactericidal activity against a wide range of micro organisms, including gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Direct action towards bacteria gram +, gram -, EN 12791 EN 12054, EN1040). The effectiveness of VETSCRUB is not significantly reduced by the presence of organic matter, such as blood.
Chlorhexidine gluconate is a unique agent that closely fits the definition of an ideal antimicrobial agent, hav¬ing (among others) one of the most important characteristics of persistent activity. This persistence is due to chlorhexidine gluconate binding to the protein of the skin and, thus, being available for residual activity over a relatively long period of time.
“The three MyVet practices have found Vetscrub from Duggan Veterinary to be an excellent product! It is gentle on hands preventing them from drying out and has a lovely fresh fragrance. I would definitely recommend it as an alternative to the well known brand Hibiscrub! ”
MyVet Group (Old Bawn Vet Clinic, Hermitage Vet Clinic, Carton Vet Clinic)
“Treaty Veterinary clinic is based in limerick city and 3 veterinary surgeons cater for a very large client base. I have been using Vetscrub as part of our disinfection routine at the veterinary clinic in which I work since February 2014. We have found the efficacy of this product to be satisfactory and have had no infections to report on any of the animals we have used it on, either in pre or postoperative surgery. We have found that it has been less antirational on skin of our staff, with less reports of dry skin since we moved to using it. We would have no problem in recommending Vetscrub for use in veterinary clinics when required”

This everyday product is used in all 3 of our practices. From its multiple functions we mainly use the Vetscrub for pre-operative surgery, hand disinfectant, skin and wound antiseptic cleanser. At O’Dwyer and Jones V.S we are very happy with the product over the last 2 years and will continue to use it.
Donal O’ Dwyer V.S – Edenderry Vet Clinic, Clane Vet Clinic, Maynooth Vet Clinic
Our practice has being using Vetscrub for the last 2 years with both companion and large animals. We have found it to be a very effective alternative product to the Hibiscrub. We have also found it to be less irritant compared to other products on the market.
Kate O Dwyer V.S, Templemore Vet Clinic, Tipperary
“We have being using the product for over a year. The staff noticed a considerable improvement in formula compared to Hibiscrub. Vetscrub is part of surgery preparation and hygiene protocols. We would recommend any practice to use Vetscrub.”
Joe Keane V.S, Sunbeam Vet Clinic, Cork
“Castle Vet Clinic have been using Vetscrub for over the year and found it to be a very effective product with no infections reported in the clinic. This has not always been the case with other generics of Hibiscrub. I would have no problem recommending this product to other practices. ”
Manus Cannon V.S, Castle Vet Clinic, Clondalkin.
